16 Sep Spot the difference around the site
Over the last few months, some of our more eagle eyed customers may have spotted a couple of changes around the site. Recently we were sad to lose the ancient apple tree but at the beginning of the year, it was a shock to us all when during the storms a large section, about 53 metres of external wall to the canal just collapsed. Luckily no-one was jogging or walking past at the time. The wall was very old and rather than replace it with new bricks, we felt it was important to keep the old character, despite the significant cost, so we set about getting hold of 13,000 reclaimed bricks and got English Heritage bricklayers to start rebuilding. (maybe put in a picture) I think you’ll agree they did a fine job and it was well worth it.
